This translation agreement has been designed to document the legal relationship between a publisher and a translator, where the translator has been appointed to translate an existing book or similar work into another language, for example to translate a French novel into English.
The translation agreement includes a licence of copyright (rather than an assignment) and provides that the translator will be remunderated by way of a royalty (with an advance optional).
The licence granted under the agreement may be exclusive or non-exclusive, and may be limited to particular rights and/or particular territories.
