This template is designed to help you create legal notices for ebooks. It includes both an ebook disclaimer and an ebook copyright notice, as well as licensing provisions relating to the use of the ebook by the user.
The copyright notice and licence specify that all the intellectual property rights in the ebook are reserved to the owner, subject to a limited licence. You will need to edit the licence to determine its exact scope. For example, can users make multiple copies of an ebook? Can they use the ebook on more than one device? Are they entitled to print copies of the ebook?
The disclaimer section includes special provisions stating that nothing in the ebook should be treated as professional advice, and that the reader should not expect to achieve any specific results as a result of using the ebook. Particular exclusions of liability are included relating to business losses, data losses and consequential or indirect losses.
A number of optional provisions - covering trade marks mentioned in the ebook, digital rights management software protecting the ebook and pirate copies of the ebook - are also included.
See, also, our
ebook agreement, which covers legal issues relating to the purchasing and download of ebooks.
The sections of the ebook legal and copyright notice are as follows:
> Copyright notice
> Licence to use ebook
> No advice
> Limited warranties
> Limitations and exclusions of liability
> Trade marks
> Digital rights management
> Pirate copies
> Governing law
The template itself is 5 pages long, but you can expect the end result of your editing to be considerably shorter, once the cover page, guidance notes and unwanted optional provisions have been removed.
We supply the template, via email download link, in Word (.doc) format for easy editing.
